Ps Brett - Acts 22: Testifying for the Glory of God | GLM

main scripture: acts 22:1-22

points:

  1. the compelling testimony

  2. the confronting testimony

  3. the confident testimony

reflection:

Sit with Holy Spirit and ask Him who He leads you to share your testimony. When that time comes, are you ready to share what Jesus has done for you?

encouragement:

Your testimony must be centered on Jesus and the revelation of what He has done for you. You don’t have to be of high standing or have a degree from Bible college to be able to share your testimony. The real power behind any testimony is not how bad we were, but about who changed you and how He changed you by grace and by faith. The power of your testimony is not seen in immediate results but is seen in the power of the Holy Spirit as he moves in our lives over time.

And when they heard that he spoke to them in the Hebrew language, they kept all the more silent.

Ps Ross - Acts 21: Managing Expectations | GLM

main scripture: acts 21:1-14

points:

  1. a potential conflict

  2. managing expectations

  3. god’s will be done

reflection:

If I’m not exactly where I should be, then what can I do to have an impact for the Kingdom of God?

encouragement:

When we receive a prophetic word, let us take it with a grain of salt. It is not the accuracy of the word that is important rather it is the expectations of the giver or receiver of the prophecy. Be encouraged to submit each word you receive to God and ask Him what He is doing rather than how we want Him to make this word come to pass.

In the event that God says “Not Yet” to what we are praying for, let us continue to grow to be more like Jesus and have an impact on his Kingdom.

Now when we heard these things, both we and those from that place pleaded with him not to go up to Jerusalem. Then Paul answered, “What do you mean by weeping and breaking my heart? For I am ready not only to be bound, but also to die at Jerusalem for the name of the Lord Jesus.” So when he would not be persuaded, we ceased, saying, “The will of the Lord be done.”

Ps Josh - Acts 20: Finish Well | GLM

main scripture: Acts 20:17-25

points:

  1. never let uncertainty get in the way of obedience

  2. don’t quit running when the course leads to suffering

  3. stay on track and do whatever it takes to finish well

reflection:

Is my need for details hindering me?

Am I prepared to suffer well?

Am I running with the end in sight?

encouragement:

As we continue on walking as disciples of Jesus, sometimes the road leads to suffering. This may be difficult but take heart! God is with us in the boat when we’re in the storm. Draw your strength from Him and fix your eyes on Him. Just as Jesus went through difficulties in this world so shall we. Instead of being downcast, let us focus on finishing the race well.

And now, behold, I am going to Jerusalem, constrained by the Spirit, not knowing what will happen to me there, except that the Holy Spirit testifies to me in every city

that imprisonment and afflictions await me.

Ps Brett - Acts 19: The Real Deal | GLM

main scripture: acts 19

points:

  1. power needed - pentecostal imperative

  2. power demonstrated

  3. power received

reflection:

Sit with Holy Spirit and ask Him to show you how you can have a genuine relationship with Jesus.

encouragement:

When disciples of Christ have genuine faith and a real transformation through the Holy Spirit, the miraculous can happen, souls saved and God glorified. When we have a genuine transformation, we will receive boldness and the words to make disciples in where we have been placed.

And he went into the synagogue and spoke boldly for three months, reasoning and persuading concerning the things of the kingdom of God. But when some were hardened and did not believe, but spoke evil of the Way before the multitude, he departed from them and withdrew the disciples, reasoning daily in the school of Tyrannus. And this continued for two years, so that all who dwelt in Asia heard the word of the Lord Jesus, both Jews and Greeks.

Ps Josh - Acts 18: Do I know too much? | GLM

main scripture: Acts 18:24-28

points:

  1. don’t confuse knowing jesus and knowing about jesus - you can have everything but still be lacking

  2. be committed to a life of learning and growing in god - no matter how awesome you are

  3. speak christ boldly and defend truth fiercely - its impact could have eternal significance

reflection:

What is God trying to teach you at this moment in your life?

Do we struggle with rigidity, fear or pride that is hindering us from learning and growing?

What voices have you got around you?

encouragement:

As we continue to walk as disciples of Christ and obey his command to make disciples, let us be humble, curious, teachable and open to learning more from each other as well as from the Holy Spirit.

He began to speak boldly in the synagogue, but when Priscilla and Aquila heard him, they took him aside and explained to him the way of God more accurately. And when he wished to cross to Achaia, the brothers encouraged him and wrote to the disciples to welcome him. When he arrived, he greatly helped those who through grace had believed, for he powerfully refuted the Jews in public, showing by the Scriptures that the Christ was Jesus.

Ps Josh - Acts 17: Confronting Mindsets | GLM

main scripture: Acts 17:1-15

points:

  1. confronting strong mindsets requires courageous love and godly wisdom

  2. some will be persuaded and some will be unmoved - and that’s ok

  3. don’t be deterred by hostility and harassment - it probably means you’re flying over the target

reflection:

Was there a time when you shared your faith with someone that made them treat you differently?

How did you handle the situation?

encouragement:

We are called to make disciples through the power of the Holy Spirit in the name of Jesus. There will be times when some people will accept our message and there will be times when people won’t. Be encouraged that it is the Holy Spirit that works in people’s hearts. As long as we obey the command and share the Gospel, whatever situation we find ourselves in after that, God will provide a way out.

And Paul went in, as was his custom, and on three Sabbath days he reasoned with them from the Scriptures, explaining and proving that it was necessary for the Christ to suffer and to rise from the dead, and saying, “This Jesus, whom I proclaim to you, is the Christ.” And some of them were persuaded and joined Paul and Silas, as did a great many of the devout Greeks and not a few of the leading women.

Ps Josh - Acts 16: Divine Detours | GLM

main scripture: acts 16:1-15

points:

  1. god invites us on a glorious adventure - but our comfort is not his priority

  2. god will direct us with clarity - but we’re called to follow with sensitivity

  3. god will open their hearts - but we need to open our mouths

reflection:

Is there something in your life right now that God is calling for you to give up so you can step into where He is leading you?

encouragement:

Following where the Holy Spirit leads requires surrender, a sensitive heart and obedience. Sometimes we are so eager to go but we have to be sensitive to where He is leading us. God’s “No” is not the end but rather a divine detour that leads us into a glorious adventure all for His glory.

And when they had come up to Mysia, they attempted to go into Bithynia, but the Spirit of Jesus did not allow them. So, passing by Mysia, they went down to Troas. And a vision appeared to Paul in the night: a man of Macedonia was standing there, urging him and saying, “Come over to Macedonia and help us.” And when Paul had seen the vision, immediately we sought to go on into Macedonia, concluding that God had called us to preach the gospel to them.

Ps Brett - Acts 15: Grace Wins | GLM

main scripture: acts 15:1-31

POints:

  1. struggling with grace

  2. standing for grace

  3. sent with grace

reflection:

Has there been an instance in your life when someone has shown you grace even when you were at fault?

encouragement:

Even in the midst of disagreement, Grace always wins. It is by grace that we are saved and not by our works. We may have disagreements with our brethren but we must remember that God our Father first extended grace to us through Jesus so should we extend grace to our brethren.

So God, who knows the heart, acknowledged them by giving them the Holy Spirit, just as He did to us, and made no distinction between us and them, purifying their hearts by faith. Now therefore, why do you test God by putting a yoke on the neck of the disciples which neither our fathers nor we were able to bear? But we believe that through the grace of the Lord Jesus Christ we shall be saved in the same manner as they.”

Ps Josh - Acts 14: Grace in Tribulations | GLM

main scripture: acts 14:19-23

points:

  1. put trust in no man - the same people who celebrate you may soon stone you

  2. never back down in the face of adversity - there are others who need what you bring

  3. embrace the grace of tribulations

reflection:

what is god accomplishing in my suffering?

encouragement:

Being a follower of Christ, we share in his suffering. We must suffer in order for us to enter into the kingdom of God. But take heart, in the midst of struggles and tribulations, we can find God, we can cling to Him, we can know His presence.

When they had preached the gospel to that city and had made many disciples, they returned to Lystra and to Iconium and to Antioch, strengthening the souls of the disciples, encouraging them to continue in the faith, and saying that through many tribulations we must enter the kingdom of God.

Ps Josh F - Acts 13: Who sent you? | GLM

main scripture: acts 13:1-4

points:

  1. Holy Spirit speaks to us

  2. holy Spirit sets us apart

  3. holy spirit sends us

reflection:

What has the Holy Spirit said to me? Will I listen?

What has He set me apart for? Will I live set apart?

Where has He sent me? Will I go?

encouragement:

God speaks to us today through the Holy Spirit. He speaks to us in different ways. When we hear a word from Him, let us go to Him in prayer, go in obedience and live set apart for His purpose and glory.

While they were worshiping the Lord and fasting, the Holy Spirit said, “Set apart for me Barnabas and Saul for the work to which I have called them.”

Ps Josh F - Acts 12: God will have the last laugh | GLM

main scripture: acts 12

points:

  1. earnest intercession opens the door for divine intervention

  2. freedom fully comes when we have the faith to fully walk in it

  3. it’s far better to humble yourself than have God do it for you

reflection:

Sit and reflect with Holy Spirit if there is any pride in you that is hindering you from walking with God.

encouragement:

God deserves all the glory because all good things come from Him. He orchestrates everything in creation all according to His beautiful plan. He is worthy of all our praise, worship and adoration.

On an appointed day Herod put on his royal robes, took his seat upon the throne, and delivered an oration to them. And the people were shouting, “The voice of a god, and not of a man!” Immediately an angel of the Lord struck him down, because he did not give God the glory, and he was eaten by worms and breathed his last.

Ps Josh F - Acts 10: Breaking In | GLM

main scripture: Acts 10:30-48

points:

  1. God doesn’t play favourites…but responds to those with appetite

  2. Living a God-fearing life will get God’s attention…but it’s not enough to save you

  3. the Holy Spirit will do whatever he likes…but he likes breaking-in

reflection:

How many moments in our day do we give Holy Spirit the opportunity to come and interrupt our daily lives?

encouragement:

The Holy Spirit can do whatever He wants, whenever He wants, to whomever He wants. Let us ask the Holy Spirit to reveal to us in what area of our lives He wants to break in. Let us also ask that God makes our hearts so in tune with His for His glory.

While Peter was still saying these things, the Holy Spirit fell on all who heard the word. And the believers from among the circumcised who had come with Peter were amazed, because the gift of the Holy Spirit was poured out even on the Gentiles.

Ps Josh F - Acts 9: Stop Kicking | GLM

main scripture: acts 9:1-19

points:

  1. when God confronts, let it transform you

  2. embrace your seasons of darkness - God will use it

  3. never underestimate your part in someone else’s story

reflection:

Father, do my eyes need to be opened?

encouragement:

As we continue living as disciples of Jesus, let us continue to grow deeper in relationship with Him. When the time comes that He gives us a command to go in His Name, we will recognise His voice, obey His command and play our part in God’s beautiful plan of salvation.

And immediately something like scales fell from his eyes, and he regained his sight. Then he rose and was baptized; and taking food, he was strengthened.
